One of the chief characteristics of the Bombay is the coat which looks like a black shimmering patent leather. The coat must be very close- lying to produce this effect in the adult cat. Kitten coats need time to develop full pigmentation and patent leather effect. Gold eyes preferred, yellow through to green acceptable with preference given to greater depth of colour.
